Come Hear Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan In Concert

As part of the Sandwich Celebrates 375th celebration and the Daffodil Days Festival in Sandwich, internationally famed Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan will present a concert on April 27th in the Sandwich High School auditorium.

This amazing singers' life story is profoundly inspiring. He is a man of enormous faith who attributes that faith and his mothers urging to follow his dream to his enormous success. He has performed as a soloist for audiences and dignitaries from around the world since attaining international celebrity performing as a member of The Irish Tenors.

Tynan's career has not followed a traditional path. In his 20's, after losing both legs as the result of an auto accident, he amassed 18 gold medals and achieved 14 world records at the Paralympics. He went on to graduate from Trinity College and become a medical doctor specializing in orthopedic sports injuries.

Ronan began studying music during his residency and, within the year, began winning competitions and ultimately a recording contract with Sony Music. When he joined John McDermott and Anthony in performing as The Irish Tenors, his career blossomed.

His desire to move from a classical genre with The Irish Tenors into performing a wider variety of music led him to the solo career for which he is know today. He has inspired and consoled millions, from singing during President Regan's funeral and benefits for the fallen firefighters and their families after 9/11 to being the first ever singer invited to perform at the opening of the Belmont Stakes.

Sandwich is a wonderful place to visit and, for those of us who are really lucky, a special place to live. This year, more so than ever, we are proud to live here because we are celebrating 375 years of history in our village. The celebration began with First Night and will continue with monthly events throughout 2014.

April is the month for celebrating spring and the appearance of daffodils throughout the village and along scenic Route 6A and all of the back roads and trails. Everywhere you look you see their little yellow faces reaching for the warmth of the sun.
